Physicians for Compassionate Care
PCCEF is an Oregon based group of physicians who promote compassionate care for severely ill patients without sanctioning or assisting their suicide.

This is the version Lord Joffe presented in January 2004 and that was examined by hte Select Committee of the House of Lords. The committee reported in April 2005 (see link below)

The Gold Standards Framework
Part of the NHS End of Life Care Programme, the aim of the Gold Standards Framework (GSF) is to develop a practice-based system to improve the organisation and quality of care for patients in the last stages of life in the community, so that more live and die well in their preferred place of choice.
Care NOT Killing
An organisation which has been formed from medical, legal, ethical and faith-based communities to promote better and more palliative care and to oppose weakening of the current legal prohibition of assisted suicide and euthanasia.

Hospice and palliative care services:

Marie Curie Cancer Care is the largest provider of hospice beds in the UK and also provides a home nursing service. Macmillan pump-primed many of the specialist posts around the country. Local fundraising for other charities is also providing many of the local hospice and palliative care services, such as Help the Hospices and the National Council for Palliative Care.
